The Forecaster for January 29,2019

We had a busy meeting last week with a factoid on Cecil B. DeMille by Andrea Koslow, an announcement about a need for volunteers from the Bailey’s Crossroads Rotary, birthday recognition for Peter Knetemann, Ray Petniunas, Lee Duncan, and John Kreutzer led by Janet Barnett with help from John Moorman, and a flag presentation by Linda deGender who is transferring into our club from Catonsville, MD. Our speaker was Steve Oswald (RADM, USNR Ret)- accompanied by his wife, Mary Bono (Member of Congress 1998-2013). He covered many aspects of his time as a Navy pilot and NASA astronaut (3 Shuttle flights 1992-1995 with over 33 days in space as well as flying over 7000 hours in a variety of 40 different planes). Steve expressed his thoughts and hopes for the future of US space exploration, hopefully in full coordination with other nations and also support for a US Space Force that can focus on space issues and provide results to other services and nations. A most enjoyable and thought provoking presentation.
